I love Lisa’s class-Introduction to the Art of Animation!
So far, I enjoy playing with many different kinds of techniques of animation. We made flip books and zoetrope for the very first assignment. Then we worked on clear leader for Week2 and scratch on film for Week3. In WK4, we’ve got the first chance to work on the oxberry by ourselves with the object animation. And we animate food in WK5, which we called it “An exquisite corpse assignment.” I was so much fun experimenting all those various techniques which I’ve never done before.

It was enjoyable working directly on the film though it takes so much effort and time to do it. And the most interesting part was that I could only imagine what it would come out to be because this could only be showed by loading on the old-style film projecting equipment.
As for the object stop motion animation, I animated a pencil case. The uncertainty while shooting under the oxberry was exciting for me to expect the result as well as imagine the outcome sequence. And the good news was that it came out pretty satisfying. My pencil case became alive! And that's the reason how animation intriguingly, and amazingly catches people's eye. Once you play with various techniques, you'll definitely fall in love with it, just like me.
We also did some action shooting for the rotoscoping using bolex. I was good to work together with DADA animation guys. I hope we would have more time doing things together except the times during a class.
For the recent food animation, I chose the hotdog bread which I didn't realize it wasn't a good idea until I animated it. The crumbs continuously annoyed the animating process and I carelessly had two frames shooting with my hand still on the field. However, this was a group assignment without cuts between each student. So I'm still looking forward to the projection next Tuesday. I would say mine not be good while there sure will be some eyes-opening surprise!
